Here are photos of fabric art created by me, Gayle E Schwartz. I live in the Coachella Valley.
The fabric art is created with the medium of textylics. I coined "textylic" to describe the hand-colored natural fabrics that I use as a medium to create art. These are not art quilts so I coined "textylic" to have a word to describe my unique style. The word can be spelled "textylic' or "textilic" because I like variety. The textylic artwork has two layers with a stiffening inside to allow the art to hang flat on the wall. Each hand-cut textylic section or geo-shape is unique and cannot be repeated because I hand-dye or paint the fabrics with vat dye in small sections rather than by the yard. I like the asymetrical designs that can be created by sewing the different geometrical shapes together. Also, I can create optical illusion textylic art that can be stretched on a frame for the viewers that like the traditional rectanglular shape.
